Environmental Approvals

• The BBI port, rail and overland conveyor project (BBI Project) and the Balla Balla mine require environmental assessment and approval by both State and Commonwealth Governments via the Western Australian Office of the Environmental Protection Authority under Part IV of the Environmental Protection (EP) Act and the Commonwealth Department of the Environment under the Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act. These approvals have been received for both the BBI Project and Balla Balla mine.
• The Balla Balla site has a 6 gega litres per annum water extraction licence in place from the Department of Water.
• All local government approvals for the 16 room camp facility are in place.
